Muddy fun in Reception!

Reception pupils have been having fun in the mud kitchen, pouring, measuring and counting as they make delicious(!) concoctions! They are developing their motor skills, learning to co-operate, sharing resources and playing imaginatively. Sorry about the muddy socks…

Starting Reception in September 2016?

We are very pleased to announce the first of our reception open mornings for the parents of children who will be starting Reception in September 2016. On Monday 19th October and Tuesday 20th October, we will host four tours and you are invited to book a place with the school office either by email to: office@jamesoglethorpe.havering.sch.uk, or by telephoning the school office on 01708 225202. The tours are 9:45 to 11:15 and 10:45 to 12:00. This is your opportunity to see the school whilst it is in operation and a chance for you to meet the Head teacher for a question and answer session. Children will be given an opportunity to visit later in the school year. Starting-School-by-Janet--006

Welcome to all our new families

It is National Offer Day for Primary School Places and if you have been offered a place at our school we are delighted and are looking forward to welcoming you into our school community.
There will be an information meeting for parents on Tuesday 23rd June at 7:15 p.m. and an opportunity later that week for our new reception children to visit. If however, you would like to have a tour of the school with your child before June, please contact the school office to book an appointment.

Whole school

Look who came to school today!

Our reception and year 1 & 2 children have had an amazing time getting close to the farm animals that visited us in school today.

Reception Spring Workshop

Reception had a wonderful afternoon at their Spring Workshop.  The children and parents enjoyed cakes, and juice.  There was lots of spring crafting, including daffodil sun catchers, heart garlands, decoupage flower pots and beautiful spring butterflies.
We have so far raised £60 for Marie Curie from the sale of the crafts and daffodils and refreshments.
Those parents that couldn’t make the wo…rkshop can have the opportunity to purchase the daffodils and crafts the children have made after school on Friday in the reception outdoor area.
Don’t forget to send your fund raising envelopes in too,  when you have collected money from family and friends.  Please could we have them returned by Thursday 12th February so we can send all monies to Marie Curie before half term.
Thanks again to everyone who came this afternoon and made it such a success.

Posting letters to Santa

Reception have been busy! They have written their letters to Santa and have posted them into our very special post box.

Infant Nativity 2014

Have we got a treat in store for you!
We watched the dress rehearsal of the infant nativity today and I know you are going to be bowled over when you watch it Tuesday or Wednesday Morning. It really is a treat and a beautiful way to start our last week at school.
Please remember that the junior playground will be open for car parking for the Infant Nativity on both mornings and for the carolokie on Wednesday after school.

Police visit to Reception

Reception were visited by two Police Officers yesterday.  They were very friendly and informative and cleared up lots of the children’s misconceptions – we now all know that an officer’s baton is not called a ‘wacker’ and CS gas is not to be sprayed under your arms in the morning!  Mrs Moon had a lucky escape when she was falsly accused of stealing and eating lots of cakes.  One of the children kindly explained that her big tummy was due to her having a baby rather than eating too many cake and she was released without charge!  The children were very interested in the work of the Police and the officers commented on their excellent behaviour.
