Cooper’s Alley Tunnel Painting.

We have been very excited to be involved in a 6 month project with the Metropolitan Police for a community Art Project. This is a project where the young people from our local schools have been able to contribute by designing and then painting a mural within the tunnels that are in ‘Coopers Alley’, the alleyway that runs from Deyncourt Gardens to Howard Road and then on to St Mary’s Lane opposite Coopers’ school.

We set about painting the Cranham Logo as it has such strong links to our school, our neighbourhood and James Oglethorpe.

The aim of the project is to firstly brighten this tunnel – (So far only the London Underground owned tunnel has been painted, but it is hoped that in future years the Network Rail tunnel can also be completed).and to provide our young people with a sense of pride in our community and a feeling of ownership of their environment.

The Art work will be completed next week so do go through the alleyway between Howard Road and Deyncourt to see ours and other local primary and secondary schools artwork.
