Posting letters to Santa

Reception have been busy! They have written their letters to Santa and have posted them into our very special post box.

Christmas Jumper Day

What a busy day we’ve had and we have a bonanza of photos for you tonight. It was Christmas Jumper Day (I never knew you could get so many different Christmas Jumpers!) The last of our Infant Nativity play; Christmas Dinner day and we rounded it all off with the Christmas Carolokie! Phew!

Infant Nativity 2014

Have we got a treat in store for you!
We watched the dress rehearsal of the infant nativity today and I know you are going to be bowled over when you watch it Tuesday or Wednesday Morning. It really is a treat and a beautiful way to start our last week at school.
Please remember that the junior playground will be open for car parking for the Infant Nativity on both mornings and for the carolokie on Wednesday after school.

Erupting Volcanoes

We’ve had an exciting time this afternoon watching all the volcanoes erupt.

Class 7 Volcanoes

They have been busy in year 3 and 4.

Children in Class 7 have been very busy constructing their volcanoes and are looking forward to seeing them explode!

It’s panto time!

Panto comes to JOPS!! (Oh yes they did!)
The wicked witch, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Dorothy all visited us today. A great production of Wizard of Oz with some rather dodgy jokes!
A good time was had by all! We also now know a new version of “The 6 Days of Christmas” so listen out to hear a version you’ve never heard before! Just ask the children.
A special thank you to the PA for this event.

The James Oglethorpe Citizenship Award

DSCF1143 DSCF1145Marjorie Sorrell was a governor of the school for many years and retired as Chair of Governors in August 2000.

On her retirement she wished to offer the school the opportunity to award a cup at the end of each term to a nominated child who had demonstrated the attributes of “Good Citizenship”.

Attributes of Good Citizenship appear in many forms.

  • Someone helpful to others
  • Friendly to everyone
  • To be a good role model to others, e.g. good attendance, smart uniform and good behaviour
  • Setting a good example for other children
  • Represent the school in doing tasks or jobs
  • Someone who has overcome or coped with a special difficulty
  • Someone who has put forward an idea that has a positive impact on the school or the wider community e.g. a charity event

This term’s citizenship award has been presented to Daragh in year 6. He embodies good citizenship and is a role model to others. He always gives 100% to everything he does and is always happy and willing to help others, adults and pupils alike.

Our congratulations to Daragh.

Police visit to Reception

Reception were visited by two Police Officers yesterday.  They were very friendly and informative and cleared up lots of the children’s misconceptions – we now all know that an officer’s baton is not called a ‘wacker’ and CS gas is not to be sprayed under your arms in the morning!  Mrs Moon had a lucky escape when she was falsly accused of stealing and eating lots of cakes.  One of the children kindly explained that her big tummy was due to her having a baby rather than eating too many cake and she was released without charge!  The children were very interested in the work of the Police and the officers commented on their excellent behaviour.
