Class 8 and the Magic Squares

It may have been the last week of term but class 8 were still working their socks off just before we broke up for the holidays!
They worked with their partner to solve ‘magic squares’- tricky, missing number, sudoku-like maths investigations. Class 8 are not usually camera shy but they struggled to tear their eyes away from the problems- even for the camera -so not many faces in the photos!
Have a go at a magic square forĀ  yourself. The aim is to find the ‘magic number’ and fill in the empty squares. The total of each row, column and diagonal is the same number. If you get stuck just ask your own member of class 8!

Class 7 Enjoy Pentathlon With Carly From 5 a Day

The whole school had a special visit from the infamous Carly from ‘5-A-Day’.
For those of you who don’t know, 5-A-Day is a great website that we use in class to get us moving for 5 minutes everyday. All the children love getting moving especially after sitting in lessons for long periods of time. There are so many 5 minute activities to do, from dancing the jive to being a robot.
I tried my hardest to take a few pictures to show just how hard the children were worked, but it was quite tricky as they were moving so fast! All in all we had a brilliant time whilst keeping fit and healthy too. Well done to all and a big thank you to Carly for coming to visit.

Easter Parade Winners

We have had a lovely morning here at school with all our wonderful Easter items designed and made by the children (and some parents too I think!).

Lots of children took part in the Easter competition which was organised by our Parents’ Association. We had straw hats, top hats, bonnets, glasses, gardens, baskets, signs, nests, chicks andĀ bunnies – all sorts in fact.

I present to you the winners from each of our classes, who were all awarded a fabulous large Easter egg but everyone who took part had a little prize too.

Happy Easter to all!

Miss Hunt and Mrs Thomas Involved in Freak Iceskating Accident!

The children in Class 7 were well and truly tricked by April Fools Experts, Miss Hunt and Mrs Thomas. The duo explained that they had been involved in a one off iceskating accident late last night and had sustained injuries which lead to them being bandaged up! However, the real truth came out in a hangman starter during Literacy where the children managed to figure it all out.
Please note, no teachers were harmed in the making of this trick.
